Copyright Information & Submission of Photos to ShowBunny.com

Since ShowBunny.com is here to educate, we will be posting pictures of diseases, necropsies, and poor conditions, as well as exemplar animals in excellent health and situations.

To ensure that we comply with all the courtesies involved with copyrights, we require that all photos be clearly attributed to their owners/photographers.  The only exceptions to this policy will be on photos of disease, injury, and poor conditions. Upon submitting these photos, the owner will be given a choice of either:
       A) Voluntarily retaining public attribution via the regular copyright notice placed on each picture used on ShowBunny.com; photos of conditions or diseases showing no identifying features or tattoos are usually attributed in this fashion.
       B) Remaining anonymous, by giving the rights for the use of that photo on the ShowBunny site to ShowBunny.com. The owner shall retain all other copyright; their photo will be attributed publicly to ShowBunny.com; only ShowBunny.com management will be aware of the original owner of the photo or the actual location documented thereby.  ShowBunny.com will not reveal this information without the consent of the image owner.

What this will accomplish, we hope, is to encourage the submission of photos of subjects both bad and good, without fear of repercussions caused through the misuse of images by those who have nothing better to do.

TO SUBMIT A PHOTOGRAPH TO SHOWBUNNY.COM:

Send us a photo that is in .JPG or .GIF format which is about 1 MB in size and of 72 or more pixels per inch (100-300 is best).  With it include your name and (if it’s your animal) rabbitry name , the name of the owner of the animal and their rabbitry name (if it’s not, but you took the picture), and the names of any identifiable folks in the picture who have given their OK to be on ShowBunny.com.

From this image, we will generate a web-compatible version with a SB watermark and copyright notice.  The final image shall be returned to you for approval, then posted on the ShowBunny.com website.

We will identify animals and owners where we can, or where appropriate.  We reserve the right not to do so as long as the copyright notice is on the image approved by you.  (There will be times when space will run short for a paragraph about each image; we’ll do our best.)

If you or someone wishes to submit a printed image, please go to a facility which can scan the image at 300-600 dpi resolution and save it to a disc. This disc can then be used to email the photo, or the disc itself can be sent to us. We cannot return these discs!

IMAGE WANT LIST:
The following are images we’d really like to have in our archives; if you can help, please do! Start carrying your camera everywhere you go--it pays off. Take your time, make sure you get good focus on the main object of the picture, shoot lots, and have fun!

  • Ear Mites
(ears full of crud or just showing the beginnings.)
  • Diseases
(coccidiosis, Tyzzer’s disease, mucoid enteropathy, woolblock, etc.  Photos of animals alive and at necropsy are encouraged.  Ask your vet to help you!)
  • Malocclusion
(wolf, peg, butting, or crazy teeth)
  • Colors
(any and all varieties in any and all coat types.  Need overall shot of the rabbit, and a photo showing the rings, bands, ticking, or patterns which define that variety.  Unrecognized varieties are great!)
  • Abnormalities
(anything that isn’t right--head tilt, cowhocks, spina bifida, hydrocephalus, white nails, illnesses....)
  • Housing
(we want barns, cages, colonies, houserabbit setups--wherever rabbits live, we want pictures both good and bad, showing optimum, minimal, and substandard arrangements.)
  • Handling & Grooming
(Showmanship pictures, grooming techniques, do’s and don’ts...)
  • Showing
(show US your favorite people having fun at shows! Show everyone what shows are like, what’s good, what’s bad, what’s silly and how to pull one off! Make sure you get permission to use pictures of people, though.)

We look forward to seeing your work here on ShowBunny.com soon!

Quick Note: NO images produced by the deliberate infliction of pain or distress on an animal for the sake of the picture shall be accepted!
